I benefit from travel, but I would not say I am obsessed with it. I like working abroad as a teacher, lecturer or researcher. But, I am not much of a tourist in the classic sense of the word. Nonetheless, over the course of many years, I have studied and traveled extensively in Mexico, Sri Lanka, Australia, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, the Russian Federation, Switzerland and Turkey. I have maintained professional contact with scholars in those regions of the world. In 2010, I began a three year appointment lecturing in Russia on the modern study of religion, under the auspices of George Soros' Open Society Foundations.
